      Working with a supportive and well-established company based in St Albans to hire an Accounts Assistant on a 12 month basis to cover a maternity leave

      Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant looking for a new opportunity in a supportive and well-established business? The business is based in the heart of St Albans and is seeking a dedicated individual to join their team for a 12-month maternity cover contract.

      You will work within a team of 5 in finance and will have full, on-the-job training.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Raising of Invoices: Accurately generate and distribute invoices to clients, ensuring all details are correct and payments are received in a timely manner.
      • Making Payments: Process payments to suppliers and vendors, managing accounts payable and ensuring all payments are made within agreed terms.
      • Reconciliation of Banks: Regularly reconcile bank statements to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly and discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
      • Posting of Journals: Maintain and post journal entries in the accounting system, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
      • Working with Internal Teams: Collaborate closely with various departments to gather necessary financial information, support budget preparation, and provide insights into financial performance.
      • Accounts Receivable Management: Monitor and manage accounts receivable, following up on outstanding invoices and ensuring timely collection of payments.
      • Month-End and Year-End Closing: Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing financial reports and statements.
      • Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring all required documentation is available and accurate.

      About You:

      • Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar role
      • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
      • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
      • Proficient in accounting software and MS Office Suite
      • Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders
      • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
