      Absolute Recruit are working in partnership with a high-growth fintech in the banking/payments area to hire a Senior API Architect. They are seeking an experienced Senior API Architect will report directly to the Head of Architecture and be the subject-matter-expert regarding Open Banking and Open API’s.

      This is a senior role within the business and will involve working alongside senior business and industry stakeholder groups, including the Technical Design Authority (TDA). The business is ~100 employees at present, with plans to scale to ~250 in the next 12-18 months as they continue their exceptional rate of growth.

      The successful Senior API Architect will have the following attributes:

      • Commercial experience working as a Senior or Lead Architect in a recent role where you have designed and implemented API architecture.
      • Excellent knowledge of API technology, such as RESTful API’s and Open API.
      • A strong understanding of the financial services, banking, payments or fintech space.
      • An understanding of Open Banking, Open Data, Open API’s and ideally, open standards such as ISO20022.
      • A strong understanding of payments, such as Bacs, Faster Payments, Card payments, CHAPS, etc.
      • An understanding of Java software development/architecture.
      • Strong stakeholder management skills, including recent experience collaborating with senior technical stakeholders.

      They are utilising cutting-edge development tools and practices, looking to leverage AI and Open Banking/Open API platforms to modernise UK banking. They are undergoing several exciting projects, including the in-sourcing of their software engineering, architecture and devops functions. The role would suit an experienced Senior API Architect or Lead API Architect.

      The role is offering £100,000 – £110,000 as a base salary, a 20% bonus, a 12% total pension contribution, private medical, income protection, life assurance and dental. They operate from their modern office in London and though they offer hybrid working, with a need to visit the office intermittently for workshops and on-site meetings (likely to be once every 2 weeks, with a possibility of there being more occasional visits in the initial months).
